If your wife likes to shop like I like to shop--Holy Moley--there are two nearby Tanger Outlet Malls, a fancy Grand Coastal Mall, tons of tiny shops with trinkets and treasures galore. The selection of clothing down there seems so much brighter and lighter! I have always found such pretty things down there...
This link has links to all my favorite shopping centers !
Here is the link for the Myrtle Beach International Airport--a good resource—MYR and the state of South Carolina home page.
There are many, many types of myrtlebeach.com kind of things--but the official city link is: City of Myrtle Beach . In the event of an civil emergency during your visit, e.g. wild fire or a future visit during hurricane season, you would want to visit Horry County’s Home Page on how to behave as good citizens. ;-)
The city beaches are nice, and kept clean. They are fun if you like crowded hectic beaches during peak season. Off season they are not that crowded and free parking would be easily found. The quieter beaches offered at one of the nearby state parks: Myrtle Beach State Park or Huntington State Park.
Dining--good God. Thousands of choices in the area-- I kid you not. This link breaks down the dining by area. MB Dining Guide If you use this web page as reference, the dining area closest to our condo is Market Commons (five minutes); Murrells Inlet (ten minutes) -beautiful area with a boardwalk on the inlet.; Garden City and Surfside Beach are nearby, but they don’t have a downtown or walkway area. The rest of the areas are within 10-25 minutes depending on your route. There are a couple areas there I haven't been to yet myself! Of all these places, I would call Murrells Inlet is a must see. Barefoot Landing is up in North Myrtle Beach, and has a beautiful area to walk around and shop in a meandering fashion. Broadway at the Beach is very similar and much closer to the condo.
There is tons of entertainment in the area as well such as dinner theater and water parks-- too many for me to remember, here is one link to TRY to get you started: Visit Myrtle Beach
The Carolina Opry . It is wonderful! Worth every penny! Your face will hurt from smiling when you leave (that is if you love live music, tap dancing, and performers that you give you 110%). They do not perform on Sunday nights, and it is not dinner theater. They perform a regular Opry Show—based on the Grand Old Opry in Nashville on Mon, Tues, Thurs and Saturday. On Wednesday and Friday they do a retro Good Vibrations show. Both are fan-taz-tik!
